One Year On – We Are Fired-Up And Flying!
Hello friends and colleagues.
As we approach the one-year mark since the launch of Dragon Respiratory, it feels like the perfect moment to pause, reflect and say a huge thank you. What started as a vision, has grown into something far bigger than I could have imagined, and I am both humbled and privileged by the support I have received. It hasn’t been easy; walking away from the NHS was one of the hardest decisions for me, but it was driven by a belief that I could do things differently – and do them well! As a passionate respiratory nurse and educator, I feel strongly that primary care healthcare professionals deserve better access to the skills, training, and education needed to manage their respiratory patients effectively. The gaps and variations in service provision, staff education and financial resources leave many of us frustrated, angry and burnt out – the need for change has never been clearer. At Dragon Respiratory, we believe this change starts with education that is high-quality, relevant and accessible. We need mentorship and supervision for new respiratory practitioners, with advice and support that allows staff to feel confident, capable and empowered.
Dragon Respiratory is fully committed to making this happen.
Over the last 12 months we have delivered education sessions to over 200 learners, delivered multiple webinars, live interviews and of course our famous lunch and learn sessions. We have developed 2 new respiratory courses, attended 3 national conferences, delivered clinical supervision sessions and more – phew!
Last but not least, we have been extremely busy behind the scenes developing the All Wales Respiratory Resource (Asthma) digital handbook, which I hope you will find useful, and please feel free to share this with your colleagues.
What a year it has been; and we are just warming up. As a result, the year ahead looks promising and even busier – please stay with us as the next chapter unfolds.
Best Wishes and Happy St David’s Day!
Michelle
